The Bangkok Insight reported that Thai insurance coverage for foreigners was drawn up after a meeting between the various ministries and the authorities of Covid-19. According to The Bangkok Insight, Thailand is preparing to welcome the foreign visitors back to the country.
Visitors can buy insurance cover for themselves and their families online from 16 companies before they start their journey.
The rewards depend on where the tourist is from. High risk country coverage for up to a year could cost the visitor around 43,200 baht, or around 1,300 to 1,400 US dollars.
Dr. Suthiphon Thaweechaikarn, General Secretary of the Regulatory and Promotion Commission for Insurance Companies (General Secretary of the OIC) announced that the OIC had consulted the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Public Health.
The Department of Disease Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Thai General Insurance Association and the Thai Life Assurance Association are creating a Covid-19 insurance policy to support the foreign groups so that they can re-enter Thailand.
Dr. Suthiphon Thaweechaikarn, who represents the insurers, said that in order to receive valid coverage, visitors must also have all other necessary certifications such as an entry certificate, as well as the fitness to fly (Fit to Fly health certificate) and the travel health certificate (Fit to Travel Health certificate). must continue to adhere to.
In addition, a medical certificate is required, which confirms that the traveler is free of Covid-19 up to 72 hours before departure by RT-PCR. Insurance coverage begins when the insured arrives in Thailand and has passed the immigration checkpoint in Thailand.

According to the information from the Center for the Administration of the Covid-19 Situation (CSSA), the required insurance cover must be valid for the entire stay in Thailand.
The insurance cover is divided into two sections: death costs due to Covid-19 and treatment in hospitals and clinics.
Death coverage for necessary matters such as funeral expenses and repatriation of corpses is 3.2 million baht.
The same level of coverage is available for medical expenses. This includes medical control, continued medical treatment as well as continued medical treatment in hospitals, nursing homes or clinics, either inpatient or outpatient.
The premiums depend on where the traveler comes from and how long the cover lasts – a minimum of a month and a maximum of a year. The insurance company pays benefits or compensation for all necessary and reasonable expenses that meet medical standards.
People from low-risk countries have to pay between 1,600 and 14,400 baht.

The country coverage with medium risk is between 2,560 and 23,040 baht.
Visitors from the so-called high-risk countries, on the other hand, have to calculate an amount between 4,800 baht to 43,200 baht for their insurance cover.
The coverage meets all government regulations, but no more than the pledged amount of 3,200,000 baht, reports The Bangkok Insight.
With regard to insurance, a joint operation has been agreed between the non-life insurers and the life insurers in the form of co-insurances. These include: Dhipaya Insurance, Bangkok Insurance, Chubb Samaggi Insurance, Navakij Insurance, Thaivivat Insurance, Muang Thai Insurance, Viriyah Insurance, Sin Munong Insurance and Southeast Insurance and Thai Ocean Life Insurance etc.
